Historic Brew Con - Manchester

5th & 6th August - 2024

Manchester is a city rich in beer and brewing heritage and an absolute must visit for anyone with even a passing interest in how beer has shaped society.

As such, we've put together a few things to help you if you're coming to the convention and looking to make a longer weekend of it.

This video at The Beer Tourist gives a great introduction to the city’s past, and its current scene. Initially talking a walk through the city centre to look at where the brewing history started, and then joining local beer experts in the pub for a chat over a few pints.

Manchester also has a great selection of pubs that are on the Campaign For Real Ale (CAMRA) Heritage Pubs Register. Spread throughout the city and offering a wide range of ales and ambiances, it's worth a day of anyone's time to have a gentle pub crawl to them.

It's not just the heritage pubs, Manchester is also at the forefront of modern craft beer and boasts a selection of world class breweries, many of whom have their own tap rooms and pubs in the city centre.
